Red Cross Memorial
From the park that surrounds the Fortress, you can walk down a cypress-lined path called Saint Aloysius’ path, as tradition has it that he used to stroll around this place. At the end of this trail, you can find the Red Cross Memorial. It was erected in 1959 on the centenary of the battle, by the International Red Cross in remembrance of the idea that arose here in the heart and mind of Henry Dunant and that would lead to the birth of the International Red Cross.
