The historic centre of Volta Mantovana winds its way up the hill with picturesque narrow streets and cobbled large squares. In the upper part of the city, you can find the Parish Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, the ancient walls, two towers dating back to the medieval fortification and the peculiar Gothic arch. Here in the old town, there is also the small church of San Carlo and the Palace, summer residence of the Gonzaga, with four Italian gardens spreading across the hill until they reach the main square of the town.
