The historic centre of Solferino includes the area where stood the castle, built in the eleventh century and modified by Prince Orazio Gonzaga in the sixteenth century, to fit as his residence. The castle has a rectangular plan and is partially still surrounded by ancient walls and bordered by a row of houses. From the top of this hill you can enjoy, looking North, a beautiful view of the hills and Lake Garda. At the foot of the castle hill is the residential part of the old town, still characterized by narrow streets and long and irregular squares.
