Ancient Fair of San Nicolò
Period: December
Type: Festivals and fairs
Town: PONTI SUL MINCIO
The ancient Fair of San Nicolò is held on the first weekend of December, when, in the bitter cold of the morning sun, people meet in front of the church dedicated to San Nicola di Bari. Those who love festivals and folklore, those looking for something fascinating and quaint, local and genuine, cannot but be enchanted from this Ancient Fair.
On the occasion, the church dedicated to the saint opens and a mass is celebrated in his name; after the religious meeting you can participate to a convivial lunch and taste the traditional dishes such as os de porsel (pork bones), tripe, codeghe con pearà (pork skin with a bread, butter, ox marrow and black pepper sauce), codeghe coi fasoi (pork skin with beans) and cod with polenta.
